7:00pm Remembering the Dead Category : UUSC Event Fee : US$ Worship Leader: Rev. Colin Bossen Musican: Karin Tooley This special service will commemorate the beginning of the United States' invasion and occupation of Iraq. A representative sample of Iraqi dead will also be read. In light of the recent escalation of the war in Afghanistan, the year's service will also include readings of Americans and Afghanis who have died in Afghanistan. Candles will be lit in honor of Americans, Iraqis and Afghanis. The service will continue until either all names available have been read or all attendees are ready to leave. Read more 7:00pm "You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train" Category : Outside Event Fee : US$ Mac's Backs and Revolution Books are sponsoring the film "You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train" at the Society. This incredible film looks at the amazing life and the renowned historian, activist and author, featuring rare archival materials and interviews with Zinn and colleagues such as Noam Chomsky. The film is narrated by Matt Damon and features music by Pearl Jam, Woody Guthrie and Billy Bragg. Read more |
