Stewardship - Endowment
You can make a difference in the life of the Society. You can leave a legacy gift to the congregation. You can make a bequest, name the congregation as an owner or beneficiary of your life insurance, transfer the title of a residence or farm to the Society while retaining use of it with a life-estate agreement, give gift annuity, give charitable reminder trust, name the Society as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or name the Society as a beneficiary in your contingency planning should other beneficiaries pre-decease you.
A member of the Finance Committee would be happy to discuss your legacy gift. Call the Church Office (216) 932-1898 and ask to make an appointment with a Finance Committee representative.
Thanks to the legacy gifts from deceased members and friends, the Society has an investment portfolio that is invested with the UUA's Common Endowment Fund and Fidelity Investments in bonds and a socially responsible fund.
The board has made a policy of withdrawing 5% of the portfolio's value each year. 3 1/2% now goes into the annual budget to be used for current expenses. 1 1/2% is set aside for the cost of capital improvements to the building and grounds. Until growth in members and subsequently in pledge amounts occur, the congregation has agreed to balance the budget by withdrawing an additional amount from the portfolio to pay for full-time ministry, half-time DRE and additional programming.
Memorial contributions to the Society have been by the estates of or in honor the following individuals: Mildred Bickle, Adele Fike, Margaret Kelso, Susan Lewis, Jackie Cooper, June Johnson, Annette Miller, Charles Buck, Chris Bailey, Priscilla Korabek, Barbara Kuth, Alta Gimmy, George Solomnoff and Frank Colson.
