Phoebe was an early leader in what became the Christian church. Her story, like that of so many other women in the Christian New Testament, has largely been forgotten. What does the presence of such a woman in leadership of the early Christian church mean for us today? What can we learn from it and how does it challenge our notions of Christianity and the religious community as a whole?
